University Village Recreation Program, at UC Berkeley was founded in 1986 and established to serve the needs of the University’s family housing residents but has since broadened to serve the general public.
The program participants represent a cross-section of cultural and international diversity that includes families from 65+ countries. Programs, classes, camps and open recreation are available to children, teens and adults.
The University Village Community Center Access Pass (formerly UVA Fitness Membership) provides unlimited use of open rec hours and group exercise classes offered in the main gym and fitness room. Access Passes may be purchased online. Day Pass and One-Time Drop In classes are not available.

The program has recently come under the management of our experienced UC Berkeley Youth Recreation team, which leads a wide range of programming for youth–including an afterschool program and summer camp at UVA, and year-round programming and summer camps at various locations across the UC Berkeley campus. The Youth Recreation team has been providing youth programming for the Berkeley community for more than 60 years.
Many of our facilities are available for rent including the Gymnasium, Community Room and Classrooms. We are accepting a limited amount of rental requests.
