Barre Fitness

Barre is a ballet-inspired strength workout that includes elements of pilates, yoga, and dance. We work through each muscle group, focusing on form and core engagement to get the most out of each exercise. Modifications are provided, so all fitness levels are welcome!

Fitness Bootcamp

Lose weight, get fit, have fun! Come workout with friends in a positive, encouraging, and energetic atmosphere. Bootcamp will be centered around improving your cardiovascular health, total bodystrength, and overall fitness performance. No prior exercise or athletic experience is needed as all exercises can be progressed or regressed depending on your fitness level. The training tools will include resistance bands, calisthenics, medicine balls, agility ladders, cycling, and plyometrics. Join us for a fun and challenging workout in a motivational environment.

Personal Training

If you are new to fitness or just need help getting back on track, a personal trainer can be a useful tool in your fitness journey. Schedule 30 or 60 minute sessions here at University Village!

Meet Ursula Lochner-Bravo, our personal trainer! Ursula has been with us since December 2019 and is eager to get back to training UV residents. She graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and continues to play multiple sports. Ursula enjoys cooking, reading, and taking her dog Jackson on trails around the Bay Area.

Taiko Drums

Taiko is the art of Japanese drumming, which develops self-expression and musical creativity. This course engages in uchikomi based practice.  The one who has either a sense of rhythm or a stamina to hit taiko for two hours are welcome.  In each class, everyone will participate by playing on actual drums.  Minimum age is fifteen years old.  *Additional $110 supply fee payable to instructor at first class.  

PLEASE NOTE: Taiko is a physical activity requiring fitness and stamina. Taiko is a demanding and challenging endeavor. It requires peak physical conditioning and flexible joints and muscles.  No individuals with physical impairments, past injuries or medical conditions should sign up for this class.  Instructor reserves right to reject questionable physical conditions and/or require a doctor’s written permission and written waver of liability.

Open Recreation Memberships

Open Recreation Memberships are available for Village Recreation, UC Affiliates & General Public. Memberships allow access to the weight room and adult sports. Adult sports include: Basketball, Badminton and Futsal. Adult Sports Schedule can be found here!

University Village Recreation has a small weight room open to Village residents and the general public. A Weight Room Orientations by appointment are available for those unfamiliar with equipment and are free with a Recreation membership. Weight room hours and the Weight Room Orientation schedule can be found on the sidebar. As a courtesy to others, please bring a towel with you when using the weight room and adhere to posted rules!
