Laurel Marks Is Excited To Be Joining The Community As The New UVA Social Worker

Laurel (she/her), LCSW, grew up in the Bay Area and earned a BA from UC Santa Cruz. Her career began with teaching outdoor education to children, volunteering abroad and leading experiential education trips in Peru, Nepal, and India before pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at SDSU. She has worked as a therapist for children, families, and college students, using a strengths-based, client-centered approach.
In her free time, she likes to hike with her rescue dog, camp, and enjoy smoothies in the sunshine. Her clinical interests include life transitions, nature-based therapy, LGBTQIA+ care, and mindfulness.

Eligibility for counseling: Laurel is currently offering free, confidential sessions to all current UC Berkeley students who are residents at University Village (UVA) living in family housing. If students want to bring partners/children/family for couples or family therapy work they can, there just always needs to be an active UCB student present at every session.
These appointments are designed for UVA family housing residents and are therapy appointments with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working under Social Services.

How to book a session with Laurel:

Initial appointments must be scheduled through the Social Services Front Office ((510) 642-6074) and follow-up appointments will be scheduled with Laurel directly.
Laurel is available at UVA in person on Wednesdays and Thursdays and virtually on Tuesdays and Fridays.
