Do I have to be accepted to UC Berkeley before applying to be on the waiting list for the Village?

No, and we strongly recommend that you apply as soon as possible! You can apply by downloading an application, completing it, and mailing or faxing (510) 643-7126 to the Housing and Dining Office. If you have problems downloading, please contact the Apartment Assignments at (510) 642-4109 or if you're in the area, visit our office at Residential and Student Services, 2610 Channing Way, Berkeley. You can apply for housing 2 years in advance of being officially admitted. More information at: http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/livingatcal/stufam_faq.html

What if I suspect someone is breaking into my apartment or my neighbor's apartment?

If you see someone or hear something, do not hesitate to call the police right away. Call UC Police at (510) 642-3333 from a cell phone or 911 from a land line. Be very calm with them and give specific information about what is going on and what it is that you need. YOU are the first step to prevention! If you are are hesitant to call, or do not know if the situation warrants it, call the RA on duty at (510) 224-8298.

What if someone is parked in my parking spot?

Leave a note on the car, if you feel comfortable to do so. Call the RA on duty as well to report it. The RA can go and see if the car belongs to a resident and contact them to ask them to remove the car. If that does not work, you have a right to call the UC police and report a parking violation at the non-emergency line: 510-642-6760.

I have a noise complaint about my neighbor. What should I do?

Document the incidents, including details as to day, time, and level of noises. Also, contact the RA on duty at 510-224-8298. This is a very important step because it can prevent noise complaints from consuming your life and becoming a very big deal. Often, neighbors do not even know the level of noise that they are making. Also, you can try to talk to your neighbor as well.

When are the quiet hours?

Also as a courtesy, please be aware of any kids or other people around you when you are smoking.
